Chrysochoid message for Easter: Let’s travel carefully and safely

His message for Easter is being sent by Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoid with a post on social media.

“The messages of these days, but I think the most important is love and respect for our lives and the lives of our fellow humans,” he says, adding: “Let us travel, but with care and safety, not to mourn lives in traffic accidents.”

“The Greek Police have intensified its actions all previous days of the Holy Week and will continue to do so until this Easter season is completed,” he explains.

Good morning,

“Saint Easter is one of the highlights of Christianity, intertwined with Spring and our traditions. Days of devotion, rest, but also of the anti -war, with most Greeks traveling to meet relatives, friends and memories.

The Greek Police have intensified its actions all the previous days of the Holy Week and will continue to do so until this Easter season is completed.

The messages of these days, but I think the most important are love and respect for our lives and the lives of our fellow humans.

So let’s travel, but carefully and safely, so as not to mourn lives in traffic accidents. Since last Friday, when our first fellow citizens started traveling, until Good Wednesday we had 5 fatal traffic accidents, a 44% reduction compared to 9 in the corresponding period of 2024. However, we should never rest. Traffic services have intensified their presence on the national network and cities. So let us all do what we can to avoid other deadly accidents, because every life is valuable.

Let us honor and celebrate with the traditions and customs of each region, but without jeopardizing ourselves and our fellow citizens with dangerous use of crackers and other improvised fireworks who have killed and injured our fellow humans. For this reason, the Greek Police, in the last twenty days, have carried out 16,505 checks nationwide and seized 15,667 crackers and 47,981 other relevant objects and made 57 arrests.
