The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis In his post on the Facebook It refers to the increased readiness of traffic services throughout the festive season, as well as to the business plan, which has been in place since the beginning of the year, both for traffic preventing and facilitating traffic on the roads. As he points out, “the intensification of the Traffic Police, which was a priority for the Greek Police and made 2024 as a year of record for the efficiency of services, is continuing and becoming more intensive in 2025”.

“Good evening.
A few days ago in my post on the report of the Greek Police Traffic Services actions, I highlighted through the big issue, driving behavior and traffic accidents. A matter that concerns us all and is a critical priority for the government, because the loss of human lives is tragic.
These days of the festive season and as citizens’ move to destinations across Greece peak, the Greek Police Traffic Services are on an increased alert by applying an extensive action plan, which aims to safely move all Easter excursions with their families and their families.
There is already an increased police presence in both national roads and in cities where many traffic accidents are recorded.
The intensification of the Police Traffic Police, which was a priority for the Greek Police and highlighted in 2024 as a year of record for the efficiency of the services, continues and more intensively in 2025. In particular, in the first quarter of 2025, 376,452 violations were confirmed by 208.313, compared to 208.313. 72.44%.
Services place particular emphasis on checks on dangerous infringements that are directly linked to traffic accidents and life losses: excessive speed, dangerous driving or driving under the influence of alcohol, a violation of a red traffic light, the use of a mobile phone, non -use of a zone.
Indicatively, I note 352,066 checks and 8,131 violations for driving under the influence of alcohol.
An important parameter of traffic activity is not the certificate of dangerous infringement, but mainly to immobilize the vehicle and the implementation of the autopsy procedure. In particular, in the three months of 2025, 5,189 drivers were led to the autopsy, compared to 1,797 in the corresponding period of 2024, nearly three times the number.
The largest increase was recorded in the Attica region of 1000%, as in 2025 we had 1,451 autopsy and in 2024, 145.
Of particular interest are the qualitative characteristics of self -esteem:
In 2025 4,952 drivers were moving without a driving license compared to 1,557 in 2024. Most of them, namely 3,261, were two-wheeled drivers- against 918 in 2024. 882 drivers found under the influence of alcohol, compared to 374 in 2024. Finally, they were driven by 72 Driving on the streets of the cities, while in the corresponding period of 2024 it was 43.
Traffic services will be ready and do everything they can to protect the lives of all of us. Safe and responsible driving is above all an attitude of individual responsibility, it is not only respectful of us, but also to our fellow humans.
Let’s not mourn other losses on the streets. “
