Announcement on the subject with Map of Marine Spatial Planningpresented by Greece today, was issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
In it, the Turkish ministry characterizes the actions of Athens ‘Unilateral’which “They violate Turkey’s maritime jurisdiction areas both in the Aegean Sea and in the Eastern Mediterranean”while pointing out that Ankara “It will submit its own UNESCO and the UN bodies.”
The announcement states in detail:
‘Some of the areas specified in “Marine Spatial Plan” (HSS) Greece has declared in the context of EU legislation violates Turkey’s maritime jurisdiction in both the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean.
We reiterate that the unilateral actions and claims of Greece will have no legal consequence for the Turkish Republic.
We also recall that unilateral actions should be avoided in a closed or semi -semi -seas such as the Aegean and the Mediterranean, that International Maritime Law encourages cooperation between coastal states in these seas, including environmental issues, and in terms of environmental issues, and in terms of Greece.
The aforementioned actions and efforts of events, as in the past, will have no legal consequence for the Turkish Republic today or in the future.
The Turkish Republic insists that a sincere and comprehensive approach to resolving issues based on international law, equality and good neighborly in the context of the Athens Declaration of Friendly Relations and Good Neighborhood, dated December 7th, should be adopted.
The Turkish Republic will submit its own UNESCO and the UN bodies. “
