“Working on a single attitude towards Trump’s duties” – What Pierrakakis and Donahiou said

The need to form a single attitude across the whole European Union (E) against Donald Trump’s duties, the Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Pascal Donahiou in statements to journalists after the meeting held by the Greek finance minister and the Irish president of the Eurogroup.

Mr Pierrakakis stressed that they agreed that trade wars have no winners, that free trade should be preserved in the midst of the shock of duties, which requires unity within the EU and supporting it, on the way to find a mutually beneficial and profitable solution.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance said the need to abolish regulatory and bureaucratic obstacles on the road to the creation of the single capital market was discussed, and the Greek MITOS system was presented and discussed how it could be exploited in this direction.

Finally, the Greek minister also referred to the issue of the escape clause and stressed that all the terms of its activation should all benefit so that the EU Member States could boost their defense and security costs.

For his part, Pascal Donahiou acknowledged the progress of the Greek economy, which is now a pioneer in the field of development. He pointed out that inflation remains a challenge for households and businesses.

And the president of the Eurogroup emphasized that we have to work to find the right policy mix and a single stance in the face of international challenges, as well as for the banking union and other projects that are “running” such as digital euro.
