Kikilias at Piraeus port: Reduction of port fees from 1 May will pass directly to ferry tickets

Mr Kikilias, referring to the security issues he has set as a top priority, said that fifty additional ports would be in the port of Piraeus, while asking the world to understand that the Coast Guard and all employees at the Ministry of Shipping are here to serve them.

He also emphasized that the security rules will be observed by everyone, “for the security and order that must be here in the port of Piraeus and the other ports of the country”.

Referring to the issue of port fees, Mr Kikilias said that a 50% reduction would apply to all ports of the country and concessionaires on 1 May and that this would directly affect ferry tickets, with a reservation and / or reduction of prices, when the coastal market had already been announced.

“I have the feeling that this is no longer going to happen, after the significant move by the government and the fall in oil prices by 8%,” he said, adding that during the coming weeks and months we have other things to be announced, such as the highlights, and we do not see it, and for example, of the Greek family and Greek society.

He also stressed that these days of Easter for Greek families there are discounts on ferry tickets 20% and 30% and for teachers 50%.

According to ferry market sources, bookings are about the same level as last year. From today to Good Friday, the completeness of most of the routes for the Cyclades reaches 100%, while for the Northern Aegean islands, Crete and the Dodecanese it reaches about 60%.

The port of Piraeus is expected to take place today, Wednesday 16, and at least 16,568 passengers are expected to depart, according to bookings. From the port of Rafina there will be 7 steps with at least 5,800 passengers, while 6 ships will depart from the port of Lavrio with at least 1,280 passengers. The Coast Guard has taken all the necessary measures to facilitate passengers, and it is advisable for Easter holidaymakers to be earlier on the departure of the ship for their better service.
