6% drop in electricity price in May

Continued in May the downward trend in wholesale price of poweras of 89 euros per megawatt of April, it fell to 83 euros in average.

In fact, the last days of the month were marked by particularly low prices, which moved to the range of 39-82 euros. The impression was also the fact that yesterday the price was lower than today, (31.5.2025), which is particularly rare in the Greek electricity market.

However, demand for electricity in our country seems to be gradually going up, as we are now in the summer. During the last week it was reinforced from 129 to 160 gigaurs per day, based on energy stock market data. Naturally, demand will continue to rise with temperature, which will also raise prices.

What remains to be seen is where retail invoices will move in June. Recall that in May the green invoices ranged from 12.2 to 17.4 minutes per kilowatt. The announcements of suppliers with the new prices are expected over the weekend, without even excluding a slight rise despite the fall in wholesale.

There will be a complete picture on June 2, when all new invoices for June will be published on the RAAE website.
