Earthquake size 6.5 on the Richter scale struck its Curill islands Russia on Friday (13.06.2025), according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
The earthquake had a focal depth of 12 km while the focus is 113 kilometers southeast of the city of Kurilsk, Russia.
Despite the intensity of the seismic vibration, no tsunami warning has been issued, according to the Euro -Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
The first reports indicate that the earthquake was felt in remote areas, but there is no evidence of serious damage or human loss.
The Curill islands have frequent seismic vibrations. Other powerful earthquakes in the area have been recorded lately, but without any problems.
The Curill islands are a chain of volcanic islands extending between northern Japan and eastern Russia in the Pacific Ocean in an area that is a long -standing controversy between the two countries.
